Back story:
One chilly Christmas Eve night, I got a call from the next door neighbor of my ethical fashion shop who said there was water streaming out of the foundation of our standalone brick and mortar store. I rushed down to find the pipes had burst because the heater had broken from such icy temps. Because of the holiday, it took a few days to get the heater repaired, and in that time, our plants - that we'd been growing in the shop for some eight years (!) had been shocked by the cold and were starting to wither. They'd been so full, so abundant and I gave one last ditch effort to save them. With a leap of faith (and knowing I couldn't make it worse!) I cut each of the stems back to nubs. And waited...
Weeks later, the plants were growing new healthy bright green leaves like crazy! And after about a year, all but one of the plants grew back even stronger and healthier than before.
"A Trimming" is a play on words, using a plant to symbolize ourselves.
