Vision

Studying healing & growth through the polarities, complexities and lessons taught by nature's wisest guides

The sun is my governess, the moon lights my path, the hum of the cicadas remind me that I'm never alone. Nature's themes subconsciously effect our inner being and have the power to teach us, if we'll listen. All knowledge and guidance we're seeking can be discovered when we look closely at creation, the living world, as an advisor.

My practice

Using nature as my guide, I find inspiration from the moon and sun, mountains and valleys, birds and the bees, the changing seasons, the magic of our bodies and our innate ability to heal and transform into our highest selves by paying close attention to everything around us and how we're all connected.

Each day that we wake up to another sunrise is indeed a miracle and certainly not a given.

Through watercolor, acrylic, oil, sketch, mixed media, poetry and installation work, I aim to let the One Above and the universe use my life and gifts as a vessel to channel light and hope to myself and others.

Custom commission pieces

Process

I believe in the power of preservation and respecting our resources. For the majority of my original canvas paintings, I reclaim used canvas' and paint over them to keep them out of landfills. I also work with scrapped paint, paper and tools! Occasionally, for particular sizes or commissions, I'll work with new materials.

I partner with print-to-order companies to produce my wallpaper, paper prints and wrapping paper who abide by eco-conscious standards, using soy-based inks and/or recyclable paper options.

Wanting to purge old paintings in your house? I'll take them off your hands!

Honoring my past

In 2012 at 23 years old, I learned a shocking statistic, that underwear is the most requested yet least donated item of clothing in global organizations serving women and youth. I started my company MADI Apparel based on a passion to help fulfill that need.

I designed a line of staple basics, ethically made by cut and sew teams in my city. We were part of just 3% of the world's brands to pay a living wage to our cutters, sewers and entire team. For every item sold, we donated a pair of underwear, donating over 10,000 pairs to requesting non-profits.

Featured by some of the world's biggest media publications like Forbes, Washington Post, BBC News, Nylon, Men's Journal, NY Mag, Brides, The Knot and Cause Artist and carried in the Kansas City International Airport plus Von Maur department stores, our products made from eco friendly fabrics are religiously worn and cherished by customers all over the world.

In 2023, I rebranded our flagship store and brand from MADI Apparel to Slow Motion Goods with a nod to mental health awareness in an effort to champion the idea of encouraging customers to slow down in an increasingly loud and complicated society.

After a decade of stewarding the ship, I ultimately made the decision to close our online store, brick-and-mortar shop and wholesale operations in the summer of 2024 to focus on my health, happiness, family and art practice.

Studies

Stay curious, loves...

I'm a forever student of the world and firm believer that we're never too late to learn something new. In the summer of 2022, my husband and I spent the summer in Italy as I returned back to study at Florence University of the Arts for the second time.

I'm honored to carry dual degrees: a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts with an emphasis in painting and a Journalism degree from the University of Missouri.

My muses

The women who came before me inspire me. Specifically my incredible golden-hearted mother and my maternal grandma (who passed) - both talented artists, keep me grateful for the gift of art that we all share. Thank you to all of my ancestors, my husband, dad and brother - my biggest fans - for cheering me on.
